The D.O.C. Lison-Pramaggiore Wine Route offers more than one itinerary, but which ever one you choose, it will take you to meet the ancient Postumia and Annia Roads. Where the two roads cross, the Romans built the important town of Julia Concordia, now Concordia Sagittaria, whose ruins– the domus, the baths, the walls and the Paleochristian Cathedral - can still be seen today.
The area is famous for its white and red wines - Lison-Pramaggiore (which recently became a DOC label), IGT Veneto Orientale, IGT Veneto and IGT Delle Venezie.
Numerous famous local specialities complete the range of attractions offered by this district, such as white asparagus from Bibione, a particular kind of nut, the pears from Venetian region and Montasio cheese.
Portogruaro
Our first stop is in Portogruaro, where we will enjoy a guided tour, before moving on to visit the historical Belfiore mill, now the Museum of Country Life.
Lunchtime will take us to a nearby farmhouse, where we will enjoy a meal of local specialties and toasted bread with famous Pramaggiore wines.
The day will continue with a visit to a small, family run winery, where we will taste three different wines produced in the local area.
